Handmade Butter Dish
This beautifully simple butter dish is handmade just down the coast from Winter's Moon by Rebecca Williams.
It holds half a block of butter and each dish is individually crafted so no two are exactly alike. Both the lid and the base are thrown on the wheel.
Made from a natural buff stoneware clay, the butter dishes are high-fired in the kiln to 1000 degrees (the bisque fire) which dries and strengthens them sufficiently for glazing. They are then dip glazed in a soft matt vanilla glaze and fired again.
